2026 to be a holiday year in Chhattisgarh
The new year 2026 will be filled with holidays for government employees and teachers. The Chhattisgarh government has released a list of public and optional holidays for the coming year, which has now been published in the gazette. According to the government order, a total of 107 days of holidays have been declared in the year 2026. These include 18 public holidays, 28 general holidays (excluding Saturdays and Sundays), and 61 optional holidays.
However, this time, due to some major festivals falling on Sundays, employees will not be able to avail their additional holiday benefits. Mahashivratri and Diwali, which fall on Sundays, will not be granted separate holidays. According to the calendar released by the state government, employees will have the opportunity for rest and holidays in almost every month from January to December. This includes major festivals such as Republic Day, Holi, Eid, Rakshabandhan, Independence Day, Dussehra, Diwali, and Christmas.

This Chhattisgarh government holiday calendar will now be applicable to all departments, educational institutions, and government offices. The optional leave facility will remain the same, with employees able to select a limited number of days as per their convenience.
