Thar Sustainability Summit 2025, Bikaner: Just a day before the “Vedanta-Tour de Thar” international cycling rally, Bikaner is set to host a global event that will serve as a platform for global discussion on the Thar region’s history, environment, biodiversity, tourism, and culture. The “Thar Sustainability Summit 2025” will be held on November 22 at the Zila Parishad auditorium, initiated by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Thar Sustainability Summit 2025
Bikaner: The summit aims to promote international discussion on the Thar’s sensitive ecosystem, heritage conservation, art, culture, and desert life. The event is being organized by the Global Happiness Foundation.
Experts from France, Switzerland, Singapore, and Germany will participate.
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will deliver the summit’s keynote address. The opening session will begin with a lecture by Pierre Gerbaud of France, a leading expert on global climate change and environmental adaptation.
First Session: Bikaner’s History and Cultural Identity
In this session, titled “Heritage and Identity: Bikaner Through the Ages,”

will discuss Bikaner’s historical heritage, cultural heritage, and the journey of development of desert societies.
Second Session: Climate and Biodiversity of the Thar
On the topic “Climate Change and Biodiversity of the Thar,”
- Senior Meteorologist Laxman Singh Rathore
- Researcher Kunal Patwari
- Expert Saurabh Saraf
will present their views on the ecosystems of the Thar Desert, climate risks, and challenges of biodiversity conservation.
Third Session: Culture, Art, Tourism, and the Future of Bikaner
In the international panel discussion “Culture, Art, and Tourism—A Socio-Economic Vision for Bikaner,”
- Switzerland-based social scientist Dr. Rashmi Rai Rawat
- Culture-tourism expert Gopal Singh Chauhan
will discuss Bikaner’s art, ancient traditions, heritage economy, and creative tourism models.
Summit Structure and Organization
• Each session will be 40–45 minutes long.
• International keynote presentations will be held between sessions.
• The event has been masterminded by Ganesh Gudi, while Dr. Rashmi Rai Rawat is associated as an advisor.
Connection to the Tour de Thar: Message of Low-Carbon Transport
The “Vedanta-Tour de Thar” international cycling rally will be held on November 23rd, the day after the summit. Its objective is to promote
