Odisha Releases Holiday Calendar for 2026
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has released its official holiday list for the year 2026, declaring 29 days as public holidays for state offices and executive magistrate courts. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department (R&DM) has released the complete holiday list for the upcoming year, including compulsory, optional, and coincident holidays, through a detailed notification. According to the notification, all state government offices and revenue and magistrate courts will remain closed on the following festivals and commemorative occasions:

- January 23: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti / Veer Surendra Sai Jayanti
- January 26: Republic Day
- March 3: Dola Purnima
- March 4: Holi
- March 21: Eid-ul-Fitr
- March 27: Ram Navami
- April 1: Utkala Divas (Odisha Day)
- April 3: Good Friday
- April 14: Maha Vishubha Sankranti / Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti
- May 1: Buddha Purnima/Pandit Raghunath Murmu’s Birthday
- May 16: Savitri Ambasya
- May 27: Eid ul Zuha
- June 15: Raj Sankranti
- June 26: Muharram

Optional Holidays: Odisha Releases Holiday Calendar for 2026
State employees, regardless of their religion or sect, will be permitted to avail of one optional holiday on any of the following nine occasions with written permission from their competent authority:
- Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti
- Easter Saturday
- Bahuda Yatra
- Anala Navami
- Prathmashtami
- Holi (2nd day)
- Raksha Bandhan
- Nuakhai
- Christmas Eve
The department has clarified that some festivals traditionally celebrated as holidays will not be declared separately this time as they coincide with Sundays or second and fourth Saturdays. These include Maha Shivaratri, Pahili Raja, Mahalaya, Maha Ashtami, Kumar Purnima and Diwali.
This official information has been sent to all government departments, district collectors and major state and central institutions including the Odisha High Court, RBI and nationalized banks. The Information and Public Relations Department, All India Radio and Doordarshan Bhubaneswar have also been informed for wide publicity.
