New Delhi : UIDAI will soon launch a new Aadhaar app. ID verification will be possible offline through this app. UIDAI has already given a glimpse of this before the launch. In a recent webinar, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar explained that the app aims to create a robust ecosystem for offline verification, ensuring secure and easy digital identification for people. He said that the new system will improve both security and privacy.
Paperless Aadhaar Sharing: A Cure for Fraud
The new Aadhaar app is gaining traction because it allows for offline verification. This eliminates the need to provide a physical Aadhaar card copy to prove identity at hotels, societies, events, or anywhere else. According to UIDAI, sharing photocopies often increases the risk of Aadhaar misuse or fraud. The new app will eliminate this risk by allowing users to share complete or selective Aadhaar data digitally.
Where will offline verification be useful?
UIDAI stated that the new system will be extremely useful in everyday situations:

- Residential society entry
- Event/function access
For this, the app will have several offline modes, including QR-based verification, which can be used by small businesses and large organizations.

According to UIDAI, the new Aadhaar app will offer greater control, greater security, and greater convenience than before.
- Multi-profile – A user can store up to five Aadhaar profiles of their family members in a single app.
- Biometric Lock/Unlock – You can lock biometrics with a single click. Once locked, no one will be able to misuse your fingerprint or iris.
- Profile Update – When you update your mobile number or address, the app will automatically display the new information.
- QR Code and Verifiable Credential Sharing – Users will be able to send digital Aadhaar information directly from the app with a single tap.

Download the Aadhaar app from the official source specified by UIDAI. It is also available on the Google Play Store and App Store(Aadhaar New App 2025-26)
- Send the SMS requested by the app from the registered mobile number.
- The app will perform face authentication; complete it.
- Set a 6-digit password for security.
- The Aadhaar profile will only be created on the mobile device with the registered number.
It’s important to note that only one Aadhaar profile can be active on a single device at a time. The old profile will be automatically deleted when you log in to another device. UIDAI believes the new app will make digital identity more reliable and make everyday tasks easier than ever.
