    January 2026 Long Weekends

    January 1st falls on Thursday. Take a holiday on Friday, January 2nd, along with the New Year’s holiday, and January 3rd-4th (Saturday-Sunday) will be a weekend.     September 2026 Long Weekend list

    Janmashtami is on Friday, September 4th, 2026. This is followed by a Saturday-Sunday weekend on September 5th and 6th.

    October 2026 Long Weekends

    2026 Festival Calendar: The year 2025 is about to end. 2026 will begin in January. In 2026, employees will receive 31 public and 19 optional holidays. This means a total of 50 holidays. The calendar has been released by the General Administration Department. Employees will be able to take only two of the 19 optional holidays at their discretion. There are 12 weeks in the year in which employees will receive three days off each as per 2026 calendar with festivals and holidays.

    In 2026, nine holidays have been reduced due to the festival holidays falling on Saturdays and Sundays.

    In addition to these holidays, the Collector will be able to declare two public holidays in their district. The Finance Department will release a separate holiday calendar for bank employees. Next year, Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 2nd, Dhulandi on March 3rd, and Diwali on November 8th, and Govardhan Puja on November 9th.

    According to the 2026 calendar with festivals and holidays, next year’s Diwali and Shivratri will fall on Sundays. Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 2nd, Dhulandi on March 3rd, Ramdev Jayanti and Teja Dashami on September 21st, Durgashtami on October 19th, Diwali on November 8th, and Govardhan Puja on November 9th.

    Holidays will be distributed simultaneously

    In the new year, employees will also receive three days off. This means that there will be 12 weeks in which government offices will be open for four days each.     Why railways decided to run 1700 trains?

    Railways has planed 1702 special trains on Diwali and Chhath Puja for easy travel and allowing passengers reach their destination with ease and celebrate Diwali and Chhath with their families.

    Out of these trains 800 trains have been run separately for UP, Bihar, West Bengal and North East region as major working population in various states of the country is from these states.

    This information has been given by the CRPO of Central Railway. These train will run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Pune Kolhapur and Nagpur. Other 800 plus trains will run for various other states.

    Keeping in mind the convenience of the people and the safety of the passengers, extra counters have been made separately at the destinations.

    CRPO also said that keeping in view the safety of the passengers, the facility of accommodation for about 3000 additional passengers has also been made at major railway stations of India.

    In these facilities necessities like food, water, toilet, fans and mobile UTS services which have also been started for preparing tickets without visiting counters. All these facilities will reduce the load on the ticket counter at the counter.
