    Jharkhand Holiday Calendar 2026

Holiday Calendar 2026: The new year, 2026, will begin in a few days. Importantly, the official calendar of government holidays for the year 2026 was approved at the Hemant government’s cabinet meeting. A total of 34 days of holidays have been decided in the cabinet meeting.

    Total 34 days of holidays

This time, a two-day consecutive holiday has been declared for Sohrai, the major festival of the tribal community, allowing government employees living in rural areas to participate with their families with full enthusiasm. Sohrai, known as the harvest festival, symbolizes joy and prosperity for the tribal communities. Under the NIA Act, there will be a total of 21 days of holidays, and under executive order, 13 days, making a total of 34 days of holidays. This time, there will be a 2-day holiday for Sohrai. This list prioritizes national festivals as well as the state’s cultural and traditional characteristics.

These holidays will provide employees with mental peace and family time

The government believes that these holidays will not only provide employees with mental peace and family time but will also strengthen Jharkhand’s cultural unity. On the other hand, critics say that the abundance of holidays may slow down the pace of work, but the government has clarified that essential services will not be affected. According to officials, this step has been taken with the aim of promoting the state’s cultural identity and passing on historical festivals—such as Hul Diwas—to the new generation.
