Patna: The Bihar government has released the 2026 holiday calendar for government employees. Under the executive order, state government offices will have 11 holidays, two of which fall on Sundays. Under the National Security Act, there are 24 holidays, four of which fall on Sundays. Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has released its official holiday list for the year 2026, declaring 29 days as public holidays for state offices and executive magistrate courts. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department (R&DM) has released the complete holiday list for the upcoming year, including compulsory, optional, and coincident holidays, through a detailed notification. The capital’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 382 on Monday, which falls into the “very poor” category. Following this, the Delhi government immediately took strict action, ordering 50% of employees in all departments and private offices to work from home.
The government took this decision following the third phase of directives from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). The new orders state that essential services will be exempted from this order, so that the daily needs of the general public are not affected.

Vocational Trainers in Himachal Pradesh Will Receive 52 Days of Leave a Year
According to a notification issued by the State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, vocational trainers’ leave schedule has been aligned with the school academic calendar and the holidays scheduled for government employees. This new leave structure will be effective from January 2026, the next calendar year.
Under this new schedule, the 20 days of earned leave (EL) and 10 days of festival break leave already available to vocational trainers have been merged into a total of 52 days of annual leave.
However, certain conditions will strictly apply to vocational trainers during the vacation schedule. They may be called upon for vocational education-related work, such as on-the-job training, assessment of vocational students, workshops, meetings, or other NSQF and mandatory responsibilities. They will not receive any additional compensatory leave or remuneration for engaging in these tasks.
Other leave rules remain unchanged
In addition to the 52 days of annual leave, vocational trainers working in Himachal Pradesh will continue to receive 12 casual leaves per year (based on completed months) and 6 days of medical leave per year. Furthermore, maternity leave provisions will remain in effect.
The State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Himachal Pradesh has issued instructions to all vocational training providers to disseminate these revised leave rules to the heads of vocational schools where vocational trainers are posted.
