Cyclone Montha: Cyclone Montha, which formed in the southeastern Bay of Bengal, is rapidly intensifying. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is expected to make landfall near Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, on October 28. The storm is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm. Originating as a deep depression on October 26, the system gained momentum within hours. This has triggered warnings for strong winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding in coastal areas in states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea for the next few days.

Due to heavy rains in many areas of Tamil Nadu, the administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Tuesday. In Chengalpattu and Cuddalore districts, all educational institutions have been ordered closed due to continuous rain and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

In view of the potential danger, the Andhra Pradesh government has declared a school holiday from October 27 to 31 in Rayalaseema, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, and surrounding districts. In Odisha, all schools and educational institutions will remain closed on October 28 and 29.
