Lucknow. The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has taken a commendable step towards strengthening the democratic process. Natives of Bihar working in the state and voters have been granted special paid leave on November 6th and 11th to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, November 6th and 11th have been declared holidays for Bihari voters so that they can return home and cast their votes without any hindrance.
This decision comes at a time when campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections is at its peak. Voting will take place in two phases in Bihar on November 6th and 11th. Lakhs of Bihari laborers, employees, and other professionals are employed in Uttar Pradesh, contributing to various industries, construction projects, and the public and private sectors. The Yogi government has taken this initiative to ensure that these voters are not deprived of voting rights.
Valid Voters Will Get Paid Leave on November 6th and 11th
The order clarifies that Bihar voters employed in all government, semi-government, corporations, boards, and private institutions in Uttar Pradesh will be able to avail of this leave. Specifically, employees with valid Bihar voter ID cards will be able to go home to vote. The government has directed that this leave will be considered paid, meaning there will be no salary deduction.

A senior official from the General Administration Department stated, “This step has been taken to protect constitutional rights and promote inter-state cooperation. Voters from Bihar will have the full opportunity to vote in their home state, strengthening democratic participation.” He added that the relevant district administrations and office heads have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with this order to allow paid leave on November 6th and 11th.
