Why public holiday on November 24-25 in Uttar Pradesh?
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has made a major change to the public holiday for Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day this year. Originally scheduled for November 24 (Monday), the holiday has now been extended to November 25 (Tuesday).
According to the government order, all government offices, universities, colleges, and private schools will remain completely closed on Tuesday. Principal Secretary Manish Chauhan has directed that this day, traditionally a holiday, has been extended by one day at the state level.
This change dashed the hopes of those who were planning a two-day holiday by combining Sunday (November 23) and Monday (November 24). Now, only November 25 will be a full holiday, and there will be no consecutive days of rest.
The government has clarified that, as per the revised order, all government and educational institutions will remain closed on November 25, and all employees and students will need to adjust their preparations accordingly.
