    Himachal Pradesh gained full statehood on January 25, 1971. Full Statehood Day is celebrated on this day. This year, January 25th falls on a Sunday. Furthermore, Guru Ravidas Jayanti is on February 1st, also a Sunday. Mahashivratri falls on February 15th, a Sunday. Lord Parshuram Jayanti on April 19th also falls on a Sunday. DM Deepak Meena issued a new order stating that the local holiday in the district will now be on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, instead of October 29th. The previous order declared October 29th as a holiday, but this has now been rescinded. The Chhath Puja holiday date changed in Gorakhpur to 28, October 2025 now.

    Decision changed due to the importance of sunrise worship

    During the Chhath festival, there is a tradition of offering prayers to the setting and rising sun. The administration has revised the holiday date keeping this religious significance in mind.     The DM office had previously declared a local holiday on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025. Later, when details of the dates and sunrise times of Chhath Puja events became available, DM Deepak Meena reviewed the situation and issued a new order.

    The revised order clearly states that the holiday on October 29th is cancelled and a local holiday will be in effect on October 28th. All government offices, educational institutions, and offices in the district will remain closed on this day.

    Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation, Jalkal Department, and police administration have intensified preparations for the Chhath festival. Special teams have been deployed for cleaning, lighting, and security of the ghats. The administration states that the convenience and safety of devotees will be a top priority.
