Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that India has immense potential to become a major winter tourism destination and praised the steps taken by the Uttarakhand government in this regard.

In his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address, Modi said that until three years ago, fewer than 2,000 tourists visited Adi Kailash, while now this number has increased to over 30,000.

He said that many countries have developed successful tourism models around winter sports and activities such as skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, and ice climbing.

He urged countrymen to consider the Himalayan regions when planning their vacations, as these regions offer memorable experiences during the winter season.

“During winter, the Himalayan valleys become an experience that lasts a lifetime. If you’re planning a trip this winter, don’t forget to consider the Himalayan valleys,” Modi said.

The increased number of tourists caused significant inconvenience to travelers. Kasauli, being close to Chandigarh and other states, is particularly popular with tourists, allowing them to travel within a single day. • December 2025 Bank Holidays: Banks will be closed for 18 days next month, RBI releases full holiday information, learn the details

     December 2025 Bank Holidays.

December 2025 Bank Holidays: The month of November is coming to an end, and with it, the new month of December is also about to begin. The last month of the year is filled with numerous festivals and regional events, so this year’s impact on banking services will be visible.

    December 2025 Bank Holidays

In December 2025, banks will be closed for a total of 18 days in different states across the country. Therefore, it is important to review the complete list of holidays before carrying out any important banking work to save both time and effort.

RBI Releases Bank Holiday Lists Every Month

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a state-wise list of bank holidays every month. This list indicates which days, for which reasons, and in which states banks will be closed. This is important because holidays do not apply uniformly across all states. Many festivals are local holidays, and some holidays are only valid in specific states. Therefore, it is crucial to know the holidays in your city before visiting the bank.

Bank Holidays in December 2025 – Dates and Reasons

December has a large number of holidays. Here is the state-wise holiday list for the entire month:

    December 1-10

    • December 1: Indigenous Faith Day – Banks closed in Arunachal Pradesh
    • December 3: St. Francis Xavier’s Day – Banks closed in Goa

    December 11-20

    • December 12: Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma Day – Holiday in Meghalaya
    • December 18: Guru Ghasidas Jayanti – Banks closed in Chhattisgarh
    • December 19: Liberation Day – Banks closed in Goa

    December 21-31(December 2025 Bank Holidays)

    • December 25: Christmas – Holiday in most states across the country
    • December 26: Christmas Celebrations – Meghalaya, Mizoram, Telangana, as well as Martyr Udham Singh Jayanti – Holiday in Haryana
    • December 27: Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti – Banks closed in Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh
    • December 30: U Kiang Nangbah Day – Meghalaya; Tamu Losar Festival – Holiday in Sikkim
    • December 31: New Year’s Day Eve – Banks closed in Manipur and Mizoram

Why is it important to check holidays in advance?

Due to the large number of holidays in December, there may be a rush in bank branches. This may cause delays in tasks like cash deposit, cheque clearance, passbook update, draft making etc. Therefore, it is better to complete your banking work in advance so that you do not face any problem due to holidays.

Although UPI, net banking and ATM services will be available 24×7, there are many tasks for which you have to visit the bank branch. Therefore, keep in mind the holidays in your city and make your banking plan for the month of December.
