    Maharashtra 2026 government holidays

Maharashtra 2026 government holidays: The Maharashtra government has announced the public holidays for 2026. This will help citizens plan their work and vacation time.

    Maharashtra 2026 government holidays

The Maharashtra government has announced the public holidays for the year 2026. There will be 24 public holidays in all government offices of the state next year. A special one-day holiday has also been declared for Bhai Dooj. The General Administration Department has issued an official notification in this regard.

These holidays declared by the state government will be applicable to all offices and institutions in Maharashtra. This includes all government offices, state government undertakings, municipal corporations, municipal councils, nagar panchayats, zilla parishads, panchayat samitis, and gram panchayats.

This list of public holidays includes major festivals and days of national importance. In 2026, Maharashtra Day and Buddha Purnima fall on May 1st, and Independence Day and Parsi New Year fall on August 15th, resulting in government offices being completely closed on these dates. A special additional holiday has been declared for Bhai Dooj on November 11th (Wednesday).

Meanwhile, in 2026, both Mahashivratri and Lakshmi Puja (Diwali) fall on a Sunday, so a separate holiday will not be required for these days.

    Special Holiday for Banks

In addition to the public holidays, a holiday has been declared only for banks on April 1, 2026 (Wednesday) for annual audits.
