Jabalpur: Anjuman Islamia School in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has made a controversial decision, changing its weekly holiday from Sunday to Friday (Jumma). The school management informed parents of this new rule through a WhatsApp group message, which has sparked controversy.
According to reports, the school management issued this message quoting the principal. It clearly states that from now on, Fridays will be the holiday, and the school will open on Sundays instead. Many parents are surprised by this sudden decision and consider it impractical.
BJP Minority Morcha strongly opposes
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Morcha has strongly opposed this unilateral decision. The Morcha has termed this order as a “Tughlaqi decree” and said it is against the basic spirit of the Indian Constitution as school decrees Fridays will be the holiday.
Muzammil Ali, city general secretary of the BJP Minority Morcha, has written a letter expressing his strong objection to this matter. He stated that this decision is against the established system of the country.

Letter to the Collector, Demand for Cancellation of the Order
In protest, the BJP Minority Morcha has submitted a memorandum to the Jabalpur Collector. This letter demands the immediate revocation of the school’s order. The letter argues that this decision is against the provisions of the Indian Constitution, under which Sunday is recognized as a weekly holiday throughout the country.
Muzammil Ali stated in his letter that, in accordance with the Constitution, Sunday should be the holiday to maintain uniformity in the education system but school decrees Fridays will be the holiday. The Morcha has warned that if this order is not withdrawn, they will continue to protest.
