When tourists will return in Kullu?
Kullu: Occupancy in Manali and Kasol hotels is hovering between 30 and 40 percent on weekends. Occupancy will increase from the first week of December. Occupancy is expected to reach 60 to 80 percent by the third week. However, roads damaged during the disaster are hampering the tourism business. The poor condition of the main roads and connecting roads in the Banjar Valley has caused significant losses for Banjar’s tourism businesses. For nearly three months, most homestays and hotels remained empty. However, tourists have now begun to flock to Banjar. Recently, a film unit also completed filming in the Tirthan Valley.
Tourist businesses are angry over the lack of repair of roads damaged during the disaster. Tourism businesses Sher Singh Negi and Dr. Suman stated that after horticulture, the tourism industry accounts for the largest number of people involved. Therefore, it is essential to improve the road conditions. The Bhuntar to Manikaran road remains in very poor condition. Tourists travel via a bumpy road to Kasol. The road should be repaired soon to avoid any inconvenience to both locals and tourists. Kishan Thakur, President of the Manikaran Valley Hoteliers Association, stated that the number of tourists to Kullu, Kasol, and other tourist destinations will increase in December.
