Why Uttarakhand Local holiday date revised?

Udham Singh Nagar: The district administration has taken a major decision regarding Chhath Puja. The local holiday date in the district has been revised. According to the new order issued by the District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, there will now be a local holiday on October 27, 2025 (Monday) on the occasion of Chhath festival.

This holiday was previously declared for October 28, 2025 (Tuesday), but the new order has been issued and it has been advanced by one day. The order clarifies that this amendment has been made under the provisions of the Manual of Government Orders (Revised), 1981 edition, paragraph 247.

This change has been implemented by partially amending Order No. 214/RS-9(54)/2022 dated October 10, 2025. However, the administration has clarified that this local holiday will not be applicable to treasuries, sub-treasuries, and banks, meaning that operations at these institutions will continue as normal.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Chhath festival are in full swing in the district. The administration of Udham Singh Nagar has instructed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements for cleaning, lighting, and security at the ghats so that devotees do not face any inconvenience.
