Why university concerned for students are not going home during the holidays?

Kanpur. Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSJMU) in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, is now paying special attention to students who do not go home during Diwali, Dussehra, or other holidays. The university administration believes that such students may feel mentally isolated or stressed, so counseling will be provided to prevent them from falling into depression or anxiety.

The university’s Department of Clinical Psychology and the Wellbeing Center have jointly initiated this initiative. A record will be maintained of all students who remain in the hostel during the holidays or who have poor class attendance. After ascertaining the reason, counseling will be provided. According to the department, this will help alleviate problems like mental stress, depression, and loneliness among students of Kanpur University.

What will happen under this?

Dr. Priyanka Shukla, head of the Department of Clinical Psychology at CSJMU, Kanpur University explained that the Wellbeing Center will not only counsel such students but will also conduct regular scanning surveys. Students who, for some reason, are unable to meet their families or express their problems openly, will be provided psychological counseling and efforts will be made to bring them into a positive environment.
