Town Kasauli bustling with tourists
Dharampur (Solan). Kasauli, a popular tourist destination in Solan district, experienced a sudden surge in tourist arrivals over the weekend. The influx of tourists from Chandigarh, Punjab, and other neighboring states was so intense that all hotels in Kasauli were 100% packed.
The increased number of tourists caused significant inconvenience to travelers. Long, intermittent traffic jams occurred throughout the day at Parwanoo, the entry point to the Kalka-Shimla National Highway, and at the Garhkhal market in Kasauli. Kasauli, being close to Chandigarh and other states, is particularly popular with tourists, allowing them to travel within a single day. According to reports, hotels along the Kalka-Shimla National Highway experienced significant footfall on Sunday. Hoteliers saw good business on both Saturday and Sunday. Chail, another tourist destination in Solan district, saw only 50% occupancy. Kasauli’s market was bustling with tourists on Sunday. Business owners reported receiving advance bookings for the next weekend as well.
Business Slowly Returning to Normal
Kasauli Hotel Association President Ved Garg stated that the hotel business, which had been suffering losses following the heavy rains and disaster in the state, is now slowly returning to normal. The increase in tourist numbers has brought significant relief to businesses. If this level of footfall continues for some time to come, business is expected to improve further.
